On this day four years ago (day day 2.995): Foggy morning in New England.

On this day four years ago (day day 2.995): Foggy morning in New England.
NEW YORK NEW YORK – I bought a cheap, fun lens for my Leica, a 7 Artisans 50mm f/1,1. Very fast and solidly built in China, but optically odd in the extreme. As I reported to a Leica online forum: Take your choice of one of the following characterizations:
– a lens of unique character that provides highly atmospheric images, or
– the worst lens I’ve every had. The outer third of image is blurry even at f16. I’ve got an uncoated 1938 Zeiss sonar that does a lot better (albeit at f1.5 not f1.1!).
Today’s image is on the street with this “lens” ( I happened to have the right sized neutral density filter so I was able to shoot it on the street at f 1.1). I no longer own it. Experimenting with gear is part of the fun of this project.
Day 2,954 of one photograph every day for the rest of my life.
On this day last year (day 2,954): A Boston Park taken in lovely light
BOSTON MASSACHUSETTS – Another mundane image with my Leica Monochrom. Hard-pressed professionally and a savage head cold.
Day 2,953 of one photograph every day for the rest of my life.
On this day seven years ago (day 396 of one photograph every day for the rest of my life): Helmsley Building – the original in color.
BOSTON MASSACUSETTS – A busy day here so not much going on in my photo world. Take with my Leica Monochrom and 90mm “macro” lens.
Day 2,952 of one photograph every day for the rest of my life.
NEW YORK NEW YORK – Experimenting with my relatively new macro lens at home, that then Bridgeport from the train on my way to Boston.
Day 2.951 of one photograph every day for the rest of my life.
On this day three years ago (day 1,855): Virginia
NEW YORK NEW YORK – I’m continuing to experiment with film – today shooting medium format with my Mamiya 7. This camera, which is effectively a great big plastic Leica (getting 10 6x7cm images on a roll of 120 film), is noted for its remarkable lenses. Mamiya, for example, copied the design for the lens on the Hasselblad Superwide and actually improved on it in the 43mm wide angle (giving the equivalent angle of view of the Hasselblad Superwide or a 21mm lens on a full frame digital camera). The scans came out beautifully. I’m including a small gallery to give you a sense of how these are coming out.
Day 2,950 of one photograph every day for the rest of my life.
On this day last year (day 2,585): Big rock – one of my best of these types of images.
NEW YORK NEW YORK – A rushed day – today I literally took one picture – a butt depository in the alley behind our building. But at least the light is good. My Leica Nonochrom turning the mundane into mumdane plus.
Day 2,949 of one photograph every day for the rest of my life.
On this day two years ago (day 2,219): Better than usual alley.
