NEW YORK NEW YORK – I spent some time on Sixth Avenue (nee Avenue of the Americas) and Lexington Avenue today, of course with my Leica Monochrom over my shoulder. I’ve been experimenting with using the 90mm Summichron (a lovely lens) as a walk around tool. Since I shoot primarily wide this means that I’m doing large (9 frames or larger) stitches. This seems to be working ok.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – I ran into my friend Tom Barry in front of the Colony Club; I found myself on the sidewalk in front of the Ferrari store on Park Avenue, where a 1961 California Spyder (perhaps the most beautiful car ever made) was parked next to the curb; and I found myself on Sixth Avenue looking up. Hard to decide so here you go with all three, all taken with my Leica Monochrom and a 50mm Luxochron lens.

On this day last year (day 1,336): Big red thing. At least it was red last year. In light of my new commitment to all things black and white I’ve translated the image to grayscale for the look back. If you want to see it in color you can click through to the link to last year.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – I took a walk today in the Bryant Park area. This is the relatively new Bank of America Tower, the anchor for new office space development west of Bryant Park. shot with my Alpa TC with 60 meg Hasselblad back and 36mm Schneider APO lens. The building, which is certified green, is in better shape than its tenant.
