NEW YORK NEW YORK – We had dinner with some friends at Pizza Fresca, a local pizza joint in the ’20s with a truly remarkable wine list. Snapshot with my Leica Monochrom and 50mm f.95 Noctilux lens.
On this day last year: Beach club.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – A day for abstractions. I fit photography around practicing law today, finding mostly abstractions. Shot with my Leica Monochrom and 35mm Summicron version IV lens (aka “the bokeh king”). Below you will see a long exposure from a taxi moving up Park Avenue, a “Where’s Waldo?” looking painting in an office and a piece of sculpture at Lever House.
On this day last year: Gasparilla range light.
NEW YORK NEW YORK – Party at our place. Shot with my Leica Monochrom and Noctilux lens.
On this day last year: Boat people.
WARREN CONNECTICUT – I’ve been working a lot recently with my fastest lenses, my Leica 50mm Noctilux (f.95) and my Leica 24mm Summilux (f1.4). I often shoot the 24mm with a .9 neutral density filter which permits it to be used wide open in daylight. The rendering is lovely, turning mundain subjects into magic:

WARREN CONNECTICUT – I decided to push shooting in the dark as far is it can go -more exploration in the dark with my Leica Monochrom and 24mm Summilux lens. This is hand held shooting straight up. This looks boring but is actually quite revealing – star images can be used to diagnose lens quality issues (actually star images are the classic tool for these purposes). In this case examination of the detailed star images in the corner of the frame reveal “seagull” shaped stars, which indicates uncorrected coma.
On this day one year ago: Good gas. From Gasparilla island.
WARREN CONNECTICUT – I’ve spent the day here having what feels like a speed bag workout with my day job. Not much time or space for photography. At around 8:00 I decided to see what I could do handheld with my Leica Monochrom around the house in near darkness with my 24mm F1.4 Leica Summilux lens.
On this day one year ago: Sunrise and sunset.
NEW YORK NEW YORK – This morning I found myself on 11th Avenue with my Leica S medium format camera and a 35mm lens. I’ve been shooting this thing on and off for two weeks without changing the battery – it’s a real camel in terms of battery life. Here’s a reflection, three frames stitched in Photoshop.
On this day one year ago: Lever House.
