VENICE CALIFORNIA – We had a shopping and eating day today on Abbot Kinney Boulevard, which is said to be one of the best shopping streets in the world. By whom I don’t know. Interesting. Here’s a compass rose on a Park Avenue island that I hadn’t noticed before. It makes the point the the Manhattan grid is tilted 29 degrees West, more or less.

We blessedly no longer have small children and no grandchildren yet, so toy shopping is not part of our routine. But here I am outside of FAO Schwartz on Fifth Avenue on Pearl Harbor Day, two weeks before Christmas, with my Leica Monochrom and 35mm Summicron Asph. lens.
