WARREN CONNECTICUT – At last, a lovely crisp winter day with relatively new snowfall (actually nicely windblown for my purposes). In the late afternoon we took our Leica Monochrom and a vintage 1950s era Dual Range Summicron lens out snowshoeing with Maria. The main point of snowshoes in Connecticut (at least this year) is not deep snow but ice – they have crampons built into them which permit you to crunch across ice fields with confidence. We went out our door and over a neighbor’s farmland. The first image is two frames stitched.

WARREN CONNECTICUT – Finally, some cold weather. Actually really bad weather. We had planned on going out to dinner but the roads were terrible so I pulled together dinner out of what was available. This is what it looked like outside, taken with my Leica Monochrom and a Leica 18mm Super Elmar lens. A 16 second exposure on a tripod. Sixteen seconds was too long to be outside – the wind was howling.

WARREN CONNECTICUT – So I spent the day close to home in Warren, shooting with my Leica Monochrom and f.95 Noctilux lens. This lens is an outstanding performer in all conditions and has a lovely look, but is a major pain in the butt to carry because of its size and weight. It also blocks about a third of the rangefinder frame with it sheer bulk. But really nice results. Here it is:

NEW YORK NEW YORK – So on Tuesday, two days ago, I caught a shot with a very wide lens going up the steps at the subway stop at 86th Street and Lexington Avenue. Here’w what the same stop looks like from the outside – from the street – on another brilliantly sunny day. Taken with my Leica Monochrom and a 24mm Summilux lens.
