NEW YORK NEW YORK – Another walk around with my Leica Monochrom and 35mm Summilux lens. The crisp, early winter light today invites exploring the cityscape in high key. Here’s and example:

NEW YORK NEW YORK – Walking cross town on a dreary morning the reflected sky on a glass enclosure caught my eye. I fussed around with my position and camera angle and came up with this, my only shot for the day. Leica Monochrome and 35mm Summilux FLE lens.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – Once again I find myself walking around in the 20s with a camera in my hand. Not much is happening. The light s good but I’m having trouble getting into the moment. What came out of it were a couple of images that I’ve taken before: The New York Life Building and the really big movie poster at 24th and Lexington. Both take with my Leica Monochrom and a 35mm Summilux FLE lens. The movie poster is two frames stitched.

This evening we went to the Met’s new production of The Tempest. Very cool. This with my iPhone during an intermission.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – Sandy passed by here last night. It was noisy, but up here on Carnegie Hill we didn’t loose power (or anything else). We think of Carnegie Hill as a neighborhood on the Upper East Side, but it’s actually on a hill. We stayed in until the weather quieted down and then took a walk in the neighborhood. Not much drama here. The FDR Drive is closed, which permitted getting some angles that I’ll never be able to photograph again. All taken with my Leica Monochrom and 35mm Summilux FLE lens.

On this day one year ago: Fall colors after the blizzard. As I said . . . we had a freak storm last year on this date.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – There’s a relatively recent new installation at Lever House: a large bronze version of the inflatable giant rat that labor unions inflate outside of sites using scab labor. This is a work by a collective called The Bruce High Quality Foundation. Because of the material and the site the work is gently ironical – one assumes that the creators were hoping for more emotional impact. Taken with my Leica Monchrom and 28mm Summichron lens.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – A day of meetings. Here is a group of my colleagues taken with my Leica Monochrom and 28mm Summicron lens, which is ungenerous to those standing near the edge of the frame.
