Monday January 1, 2018 New Year’s Day

NEW YORK NEW YORK – We drove back to town on New Years Day. Visually a dull day – an inauspicious start to the New Year.

I’m still shooting my Sony A7Riii. The exercise that I went through a few weeks ago (shooting film and the Sony in parallel and then working out a set of black and white conversion actions in Adobe Lightroom) is a great success – I’m getting very good, film like, black and white out of the process.

Day 3,000 of one photograph every day. That’s right. Starting the New Year at 3,000. I’ve gotten a bit behind on posting because frankly it’s boring – but I have been taking a picture every day.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – We made a pilgrimage to the Japan Society (near the UN) for the brilliant Sugimoto show, the Gates of Heaven, and caught a relatively new vest-pocket part on the way. We caroled on Park Avenue in the evening at the Brick Church ceremony lighting the Christmas trees on Park Avenue.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – My Sony A7riii arrived yesterday – the latest and greatest “mirrorless” camera. It’s been highly rated by reviewers in terms of usability and image quality. I’ll be moving into to it and using it for the next month to see if it meets expectations. Today I had some walk around time with my Leica Monochrom.
