NEW YORK NEW YORK – I spend a lot of time looking up here. Why don’t more people do this? What you see sometimes amazes. Today “amazes” maybe an overstatement but a not bad image as I was emerging from the subway at 51st Street and Lexington Avenue. Taken with my Leica Monochrom camera and Leica 24mm Summilux lens.

Thursday March 21, 2013

NEW YORK NEW YORK – I saw a potential image at Lexington and 51st Street that reminded me of second picture from Boston that I posted on March 13. I snapped it with my Leica Monochrom and 18mm Super elmar lens. It’s less successful than the Boston image at least in part because the light is less interesting. As I’ve said many times before on these pages: “It’s the light, dummy.” I was also able to get closer in Boston. That always works, doesn’t it.

Wednesday December 19, 2012

NEW YORK NEW YORK – Out and about with my Leica Monochrom and 18mm Super Elmar lens. An intense winter day. We left for Connecticut without having uploaded this images from my New Desktop, so we skipped December 19 until we got back to New York – I’m actually writing this on January 1 and posting it retroactively. Here it is – the sidewalk in front of Bloomingdales.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – Like this time last year I’m crazy busy. Very hard to get into the moment from a visual standpoint. Hard to hang out waiting for the light to be just right. So I grabbed a shot of a building on my way to the subway. It’s actually two frames stitched – I use the ability to hand hold and stitch as a “zoom” to shoot wider than the lens on the camera, in this case a 1958 dual range summicron on my Leica Monochrom.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – Walking cross town on a dreary morning the reflected sky on a glass enclosure caught my eye. I fussed around with my position and camera angle and came up with this, my only shot for the day. Leica Monochrome and 35mm Summilux FLE lens.

Monday November 5, 2012

NEW YORK NEW YORK – Once again I find myself walking around in the 20s with a camera in my hand. Not much is happening. The light s good but I’m having trouble getting into the moment. What came out of it were a couple of images that I’ve taken before: The New York Life Building and the really big movie poster at 24th and Lexington. Both take with my Leica Monochrom and a 35mm Summilux FLE lens. The movie poster is two frames stitched.
