YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK CALIFORNIA – We came here hoping to photograph Yosemite in the snow. Guess what. California is in the grip of one of the worst droughts in history. There’s no snow. Not a flake. Mid-day temperatures are in the high 50s. It is nonetheless a pleasure to have the park relatively to ourselves – Yosemite is overrun by tourists in the summer – there is actually smog in the valley. This was a very productive day with images along the Merced River. Taken with a variety of equipment including my Leica S2 medium format camera, my Leica Monocrom and a Sona A7 outfitted to wear Leica M lenses.

Day 1,558 of one foto every day for the rest of my life.

CHINESE CAMP CALIFORNIA – A ghost town/refuge for those living off the grid. Not the friendliest town that I’ve ever been in. Chinese Camp is a gold rush town settled in the mid 1850s and is reputedly the site of the first Tong war in the US. All images with my Leica S2 medium format camera.

UNITED FLIGHT 1120 – Well here I am on the way to San Francisco where I pick up a rental car to drive to Groveland California, which it turns out is the home of the oldest continuously operate saloon in California, the Iron Door, which dates to 1849, the first year of the gold rush. I’ll be joining a group of kindred spirits there to photograph Yosemite. The plan was to shoot Yosemite with a snow cover, but under current drought conditions there isn’t a single flake in evidence. This was taken on the flight to San Francisco with my iPhone.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – More work on “bokeh” shots around the house (those of you who follow this blog will know that bokeh refers to the quality of the out of focus portions of the image). Taken with my Leica Monochrom camera and a 50mm Luxocron lens.

JACKSONVILLE FLORIDA – Where I grew up (check out my biography – it’s Utah) the highest praise that your could lavish on a restaurant was “Well they’ve got a pretty good steak there.” So I’m right at home here having a pretty good steak for dinner. I captured it with my iPhone.

This is day 1,552 of my daily photo blog.
