NEW YORK NEW YORK – A look up. I’ve done this before. Not very interesting.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – I’ve been exploring the relationship of New York to its natural setting for a while now. Recently I’ve been shooting wide open, with a neutral density filter if need be, to isolate trees and other natural features from buildings. Here are a couple of examples from today, and as a specaial, extra added bonus, Times Square at night.

WARREN CONNECTICUT – Another day of droning – this time on Lake Waragaug, and trying a four frame stitch, which worked fine. not a very exciting image. I’ll be working with stitches with this thing to build up larger files than the native 12 meg files from the camera.

WARREN CONNECTICUT – Out with my drone again. This time with a replacement after my crash a couple of weeks ago. I’m still climbing the learning curve with the camera. What I learned today:

How to program buttons and dials on the drone’s controller to give me easy control over the camera.

Images come out best if you dial in â…” stop negative exposure bias.

Multiple frame stitches are possible.

Framing takes a steady hand and patience.

Oblique views are often more interesting that straight down.

ANTIGUA – The sky was startling this morning after heavy rains last night. I shot about 160 degrees of sunrise, stitching five frames. I’ve included the final image and the the middle frame below.

ANTIGUA – Today I worked with my Leica Monochrom and Leica 50mm Summicron Asp. lens (which I call the “Luxochron”), shooting wide open with a .9 ND filter (three stops). The out-of-focus rendering of this lens is amazingly appealing (to my eyes) for such a highly corrected lens. The close up of the water lily flower was taken with my iPhone 7, which gives good service as a close up camera.
