WARREN CONNECTICUT – I’m experimenting today with HDR – that is using software to combine multiple exposures to achieve expanded tonal range. I hate most HDR images. Many are found in Instagram and other online venues. They usually look badly over-cooked and artificial. My objective is to use this technique to save subtle highlight and shadow detail, and to amp up local contrast, but only slightly. The technique require combining multiple exposures so I’m starting today on a tripod – thus the somewhat academic look to the images. I’ll give hand-held a go tomorrow. Shooting with my Leica Monochrom and 21mm Super-Elmar lens.

On this day last year (day 2073): Alley. One of my better images from my ongoing alleys project.
