SANTA FE NEW MEXICO – We drove down here to spend an “urban” day and to position ourselves closer to the Albuquerque airport for our return to New York tomorrow. After a day of heavy rain we had a few moments of transformative light.

TAOS SKI VALLEY, NEW MEXICO – I woke up sore after yesterday’s demanding snow shoe effort – today was a rest and relaxation day.

On this day four years ago (day 1,172): Snowshoeing
TAOS SKI VALLEY NEW MEXICO – This was a terrific day. I snowshoed about three miles (and back) up to Williams Lake – gaining elevation from about 9,000 feet to 11,100 feet. Uphill every step of the way, and some of it through virgin snow (for portions of the trail there was a snowmobile track which makes snowshoeing easy). The trail continues on to the summit of Wheeler Peak, the highest point in New Mexico. I carried a single camera and lens, a Sony a7rii and 25mm Zeiss Batis lens, to keep my load light.

TAOS SKI VALLYE NEW MEXICO – After a long, hard day of travel we are here. Visually a transitional day for me. Ditto on my physical condition: the house that we are staying at (pictured below) is at 9,000 feet.
