NEW YORK NEW YORK – I ran into my friend Tom Barry in front of the Colony Club; I found myself on the sidewalk in front of the Ferrari store on Park Avenue, where a 1961 California Spyder (perhaps the most beautiful car ever made) was parked next to the curb; and I found myself on Sixth Avenue looking up. Hard to decide so here you go with all three, all taken with my Leica Monochrom and a 50mm Luxochron lens.

Day 1,701 of one picture every day for the rest of my life.

On this day last year (day 1,336): Big red thing. At least it was red last year. In light of my new commitment to all things black and white I’ve translated the image to grayscale for the look back. If you want to see it in color you can click through to the link to last year.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – I really need to get out of Manhattan to freshen up my perspective. We’ve got a trip planned to Chicago for the weekend – maybe that will do the job.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – I took a walk on the West Side today, near Lincoln Center. Just OK stuff. I couldn’t figure out which of a number of uninspired shots I liked the best, so here are three.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – We had 12 people for dinner tonight. The event was “auto-catered” – that is I cooked. In organizing this we forgot to count ourselves, which means there were actually 14. Our dining room table seats 12 so it was more than a little tight. I cooked racks of lamb sous vide and a medley of Spring vegetables and a fennel, feta and pomegranate salad. All of this meant this was a long, busy day with little time to concentrate on the visual. Just ok-minus imagery today.

MASSACHUSETTS TURNPIKE NEAR WORCESTER – So . . . Everyday isn’t great. I mean that in a lot of ways. We spent most of today in a car, on limited access roads, driving back to New York.

Here you go with a rest stop of the Massachusetts Turnpike.

NEW YORK NY and ANNISQUAM MA – We started this morning in meetings in midtown where I had a chance to catch a moment of transcendent light on Park Avenue. Followed by a long drive to Anniscquam and a pre-wedding party. What a day.

On this day three years ago (day 599): Chrysler again. Originally shot and posted in color. I recently reprocessed it as black and white which I prefer.
