AVIZE and CHARTRES FRANCE – We started the morning in Jacques Pelosse’s cellars. The winemaker uses both oak and stainless steel fermentation vats depending on the grapes. Here are the oak versions – the owner is on the process of hanging an art show in the cellar.

We drove on toward our final destination (Brittany), making a stop at Chartre. Maria had seen the famous cathedral (started in 1150 or so) 30 years ago. I had seen it only in books. It’s a magnificent structure, light and airy, and at the same time massive. It wears its age – almost a thousand years – it’s constructed of limestone and a millennium of weather has softened the details on the thousands of sculptures on the exterior. We only had a couple of hours so I’m not able to do it justice. The image here is a six frame stitch of the Royal Portal.

QUEENS NEW YORK – This was one of those hectic days from a personal standpoint: packing and getting organized to fly to Frankfurt to meet Maria, who has been attending the Frankfurt Book Fair. I had no time to get out with a camera so I bought a few images with my iPhone at the airport. Here’s a sample.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – Technically a grim day today. A friend invited me up to a terrace off his his 20th floor Park Avenue office today to shoot. I arrived an found that I had left the CD card out of my Leica, so I managed a few shots with my iPhone. I don’t often screw up like this – I always (actually almost always) take a test shot and check the state of batteries and CD cards before I leave home. But not today.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – Park Avenue in changing light.

Yesterday was my sixth anniversary of this project – so I’m now working on my seventh year. I usually make a fuss about this but for some reason not this year.

WARREN CONNECTICUT – I shot around home here with my Sony a7rii (which has been converted to infrared light) and my legacy Carl Zeiss 21mm lens to pretty good effect. The first image is the current state of play on the construction of a new bedroom wing on our house.
