WARREN CONNECTICUT – Today I shot winter landscape with my IR-modified Sony camera, using legacy Leica lenses and an R72 filter that blocks all visible light. I don’t like this combination with foliage – green foliage is rendered bright white, which is actually weird. But in the winter or on the desert, where there is little green foliage (especially in our Eastern deciduous forrest) it is really interesting. Here you go.

WARREN CONNECTICUT – Still shooting with my Sony A7rii and an uncoated Carl Zeiss 5cm Sonnar lens from 1936. I’ve shot this tree before but it’s completely different through this lens, which produces transparent shadows but with good local contrast. The overall look amazes me. Autumn 2015 in living black and white.

WARREN CONNECTICUT – Not much going on today. I tried to make a manifestly uninteresting shot interesting with selective focus.

WARREN CONNECTICUT – I shot around here today. Things get dense by this time of year – the greenery starts to press in on one.

WARREN CONNECTUCUT – I spent a good part of the day here shooting with my Leica Q. It’s a lovely little camera with a 24x36mm sensor and a fixed Leica 28mm f1.7 lens. This is probably Leica’s best 28mm, which provides the rationale for using this camera. The camera is compact and very, very fast. I’ve been experimenting with it using HDR technology – taking three frames and combining them to achieve extended dynamic range – then of course translating into black and white. The camera pops off three frames is a half second or so so it’s possible to do HDR hand held. I usually don’t like HDR images, so this really is an experiment. Here you ro
