NEW YORK NEW YORK – A lot of images today. I bolted my f.95 50mm Noctilux lens onto to my Leica Monochrom today and headed out into the world shooting my usual stuff. This is a very special lens, remarkable actually. I used a three stop neutral density filer which permits shooting in daylight at f.95, which permits very selective focus and demonstrates this lens’s unique out of focus signature. I could decide which image I like best so I’ve posted four.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – I find myself again on Ninth Avenue in lovely Spring light. This was shot with my Leica Monochrom and 50mm Summicron Asph. lens. Nine frames stitched in Photoshop.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – I found my self midtown on the West Side today. I’m going to have to come here more often – the light was spectacular and at street level it looks like New York from the 1940s. A perfect Spring day – I had trouble editing today so you’re getting a mini gallery. All shot with my Leica Monochrom, generally multiple frames stitched in Photoshop.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – Continuing to work on some themes here: alleys and vacant lots. I also do a “shoot up” whenever light favors it.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – Another day on the lower east side. I was less moved by it than usual so I didn’t bring much back – based on a rough edit a small tree in bloom is about the best. Also an alley from later in the day.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – However hard I try I can’t avoid the fact that . . spring is everywhere. And it looks nice. It’s almost not cold here, and the early spring light is crisp and beautiful. I could go on about the paradox of beauty in art, but lets just enjoy the moment. On the first image below at least I was able to shoot my 1954 Leica Dual-Range Summicron wide opwn, which makes the out of focus portion of the image delicious, so there is at least something to talk about here.
