JACKSONVILLE FLORIDA – Where I grew up (check out my biography – it’s Utah) the highest praise that your could lavish on a restaurant was “Well they’ve got a pretty good steak there.” So I’m right at home here having a pretty good steak for dinner. I captured it with my iPhone.

PONTE VEDRE FLORIDA – Here we are on Florida’s Atlantic coast near Georgia – Ponte Vedre is actually an unincorporated stretch of beach adjacent to Jacksonville Florida. At dinner a local booster told me that Jacksonville was founded by Henry Flagler when he built the Florid West Coast Railway, but things didn’t work out for Jacksonville because he extended to road further South to what became Palm Beach and Miami, which are more reliably warm in the winter. It’s fairly arid visually here so the best that I could do with my Leica Monochrom and Luxocron lens was a shadow selfie. That and a bunch of palm trees that I’m not posting. Oh, and some pictures of the surf. I have trouble with tropical landscapes.

I’m actually posting this on January 19 – remember I post about a week after the images are taken to give me a chance to edit. I went to Paris in August to visit my brother in law, Bob Mallon, because he had been diagnosed with cancer. He died last night. Here he is from my post for day 1,405 (August 20, 2013). We had wonderful meals at Paris New York (pictured) and L’Arpège. Rest in peace, Bob.
On this day two years ago: Driving to Connecticut.
WARREN CONNECTICUT – Visually it was one of those days. It was generally cloudy, but with occasional breaks that illuminated small parts of the landscape brilliantly. There were many opportunities for good images but they were fleeting, gone in 30 seconds or less. I missed a few but finally had my Leica S2 at hand (with a 70mm lens) when sunlight struck.

WARREN CONNECTICUT – I made foggy day images today. I’ve done this before but that’s only because we have a lot of foggy days here. These are taken with my Leica S2 medium format camera with a 70mm lens. Three frames stitched in Photoshop.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – I met Francesca, our daughter, at the Brasserie for breakfast and then spent the morning in the office. Here’s Francesca outside of the Brasserie and the Lava Lamp in my office, both taken with my Leica Monochrom and 75mm Summicron lens.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – I spend a fair amount of time lurking around Citicorp Center and the Lipstick Building looking up because this part of Manhattan is visually rich.
