NEW YORK NEW YORK – Here I am on a US Air shuttle on my way to Boston. Guess what? Rain delayed departure. We’re held on the tarmac because of the very low ceiling. Lucky that I’m on the first flight of the day – the incoming aircraft for later flights aren’t going to be able to land. So here’s the weather out the cabin window with my iPhone. I don’t usually recommend shoot out of airplane windows (the results are usually miserable) but this might be my only chance to photograph today. The second image shows the same storm from 30,000 feet. Point of view matters.

FISHERS ISLAND SOUND, CONNECTICUT – Here we are on the ferry back to New London. We arrived separately over 24 hours. We’re all on the 3:30 boat back to terra firma. Taken with my Leica M9 and 28mm Summicron lens.

On this day last year: West Hampton. Early August is clearly our time to visit friends at their weekend places (we are actually quite begrudging in missing weekends in Warren.)

GASAPARILLA ISLAND FLORIDA – Our friend Don Burton (who has introduced us the Gasparilla) took us on a boat ride today, a rare gray and threatening day. There’s an area on the east side of the island that has canals and houses built by boat fanciers. This captured with my Sony Nex-7 and 90mm Elamarit lens.

NEWARK NEW JERSEY – I landed here on my return flight from Naples. This gave me a chance to drop by the airport customs office and complete the Global Entry process, which should speed going through customs and immigration on my return from foreign travel. There was very nice light for the ride on the monorail that connects the terminals at Newark. Taken with my iPhone, not the world’s best tool to shoot landscape with very high contrast lighting.

MORRIS CONNECTICUT – I drove over to Morris this morning to catch the Morris Congregational Church in good morning light. I got a late start – we had house guests so I needed to attend to breakfast. By time I got to Morris it was too late – the light was flat and dull – but I saw these school buses on the way back and they seemed unusually vivid. Taken with my Alpa Max and 72mm Schneider.
