WARREN CONNECITCUT – Have I mentioned that it’s winter here. I often shoot long on days like today – the flattened perspective appeals to me in the flat light. Here I’m using a relatively recent acquisition, a Leica M 90mm Summicron, on my Leica Monochrom camera. This lens consistently delivers outstanding results.
Day 1,886 of one picture every day for the rest of my life.
On this day last year (day 1,521): Winter.
NEW YORK NEW YORK – I went out and about today with one of my miracle lenses, a Carl Zeiss 15mm Distagon. This is truly wide and free of linear distortion, and free of optical artifacts and other junk corner to corner. But of course it’s extremely hard to control the images and its really important to keep it level. Here are a couple of ideas with it.

On this day four years ago (day 423): Freezing rain.
WASHINGTON DC – We spent the day here for meetings, with a couple of hours free for photography. Here you go:

On this day two years ago (day 1,154): subway steps.
FROM THE ACELA between NEW YORK and WASHINGTON DC – It’s generally not a good idea (from an image quality standpoint) to photograph through the windows of a moving train. Today was a generally bleak and overcast day on the Northeast rail corridor so when lovely light broke through for a few moments I did the best that I could through the train window. Here are a couple of images through the glass.

On this day two years ago (day 1,152): Look up in the dark.
NEW YORK NEW YORK – If you’ve been following this site for a while you may have noticed that I’ve made some minor changes. We’ve made pictures a bit small to speed page loading, and have generally made the site more robust. Keeping this thing going is surprisingly similar to a job.
Day 1,881 of one picture every day for the rest of my life.
On this day four years ago (day 440): Riverside Drive South. We seem to have a “look up at streetlight” motif on December 9.
NEW YORK NEW YORK – We found Holiday images today. We’ll try to push beyond this in the next couple of days, but this is what’s going on now.
Day 1,880 of one picture every day for the rest of my life.
On this day two years ago (day 1,150): More trees in fog. I’ve done a fair number of these. A thread? A nuisance?
NORTHVILLE CONNECTICUT – Feeling like shooting some real man-influenced landscape today. Got this from the parking lot in a local market.
i always pause on December 7, Pearl Harbor Day. Probably because of my almost four years in the Marine Corps; the Pacific war was our war; we were taught the island campaigns in great detail, one foot of bloody sand at a time.
Day 1,879 of one picture every day for the rest of my life.
On this day four years ago (day 418): Sugimoto at Pace.
