NEW YORK NEW YORK – A film gallery today. I’m shooting with a late Leica M3 – I plan on pursuing film with a Leica M3. I also have an early model M3 that is in for an overhaul – I’ll sell one of these cameras when the early model comes back, depending on which I like best.

Today I’m shooting a very high acutance, essentially grainless, film called Adox. The results are remarkable – the downside is that it’s rated at ISO 20 but is closer to ISO 12, so it’s full sunlight or a tripod. The clear base also has a nasty curl, making it a challenge to scan.

Anyway, here’s a gallery of film shots.

WARREN CONNECTICUT – Late November and early December are a very busy period for me. I managed to keep up one photo a day but i’ve fallen behind in posting. I’ll catch up in the next few days.

NEW PRESTON CONNECITCUT – A shot of the local architecture with my Leica Monochrom Model 246 and my new Wide Angle Tri-Elmar lens at 21mm. Another day when I’ve taken exactly one picture – very busy on the run-up to Thanksgiving.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – I bought a cheap, fun lens for my Leica, a 7 Artisans 50mm f/1,1. Very fast and solidly built in China, but optically odd in the extreme. As I reported to a Leica online forum: Take your choice of one of the following characterizations:

– a lens of unique character that provides highly atmospheric images, or

– the worst lens I’ve every had. The outer third of image is blurry even at f16. I’ve got an uncoated 1938 Zeiss sonar that does a lot better (albeit at f1.5 not f1.1!).

Today’s image is on the street with this “lens” ( I happened to have the right sized neutral density filter so I was able to shoot it on the street at f 1.1). I no longer own it. Experimenting with gear is part of the fun of this project.
