SEIM REAP – We’ve come here to see Angkor Wat, but our experience in some of lesser-known temples, such as Angkor Thom, is vastly better because of the crowds and Angkor Wat.

SIEM REAP CAMBODIA – A Belgian NGO called APOPO runs a facility here that trains African giant pouched rats to sniff out landmines and unexploded ordinance, residues of Cambodia’s melancholy history.

THE GULF OF TONKIN – We spent a day on a boat here. The landscape (seascape?) is dominated by large karsts projecting out of the water. A confluence of factors, too many other large boats and too clear weather, made it hard to capture a classic view of the karsts. So here a non-classic view of them, and a fish firm.
