This is a daily photo blog. I’m posting one image each day from now until I run out of space on my server. The “each day” refers to when the photograph is taken. I upload when I have time, typically five or six days after the image is captured.

I am an infrequent visitor to your blog-once a month or so. I am a frequent subject which has its ups and downs…I do love it particularly the architectural elements in your photography. Great eye, wit and technique- your comments are also well written and insightful.

Public praise from one’s wife is as good as life gets. Thank you, Maria.
Thank you for “showing-and-telling” and, in the process, teaching and inspiring members of the Princeton Photography Club last night. While I of course liked some of the images you showed better than others, I found nearly all of them to be original, exciting, and inventively and rigorously made. Moreover, I received a lot of food for thought from you last night:
(1) the ideal of treating subject matter “respectfully,” whether it be sacred (an elegant Congregational steeple in Connecticut) or profane (an abandoned trailer once used for making crystal meth in California);
(2) the immense range of effects to be derived by applying sophisticated techniques–related to cameras and lenses, exposure and composition, post-processing and printing–and thereby achieve results that, while “manipulated,” better emulate reality;
(3) the fun, discipline, and generosity of blogging–especially on a daily basis “forever” (ambition is good!);
(4) and so on….
Well done, sir! By making the trip from city to suburb on a pleasant day in May, you’ve gained some new blogophiles. On the way out after your talk, one member said to me, “What an incredible presentation. This guy is very, very smart about photography.”
By the way, after you mentioned that your driver, on arriving in Princeton, asked if “that might be a school or something” behind the big gates, I did a search on DumbDrivers.com and found out that he did both his undergraduate and graduate work at Harvard (the de Lorean School of Drivers’ Education). Obviously, he never got over being turned down by Princeton.
Richard – It was great fun – thanks for taking the time to leave a note here.
Hello Woody,
I am a huge fan of your blog and a great admirer of your work. The subjects you choose, the equipment you have mastered, and the way in which you capture them make for an elegant and inspiring combination. You are also a truly cool person and it is fascinating to get a little window into your world and how you see it. I find that most of the great photographers I admire and aspire to be like share this distinction. Thank you for taking the time to create this captivating and rewarding project.
Best,
Tyler
Tyler – Thanks.
Woody
This is my first visit to your website and I’m very impressed with all your photos, living in a city like New York gives you plenty of subjects to capture with your excellent equipment!! I’m fairly new with photography (I would appreciate if you take a minute to take a look at my pictures on flickr “npnevmatikatou”) but I found out that I like it very much and spend a lot of time taking anything that comes to my sight.
I just found out through a friend on Facebook about your blog and went through it. I loved your pictures and your equipment also. I’m fairly new with photography which I love very much and hope to improve myself by taking some lessons.
great blog woody,
I disagree, you seem to be able to take a good picture every day..I like what you are seeing, and what a challenge to self produce a daily photoblog..it’s much easier to just point the camera at what the clients wants everyday.
I went down the “return to film” path about a year ago.. did a few rolls of 120 then decided that I will stick to digital..however just yesterday I saw a cool linhof rolex 6×7 back and I momentarily wished I still had my technika..
One of the issues for the daily shooter is not doing the same thing over and over and going stale. Most of the daily photo projects on the web are self-obsessed 20-somethings shooting themselves every day for a year. This has got to get boring and in any event who cares?
I love your daily blog! I am a frequent visitor! Thank you for sharing your beautiful photos!
Thinking of you Woody !
xoxox Hope you are well and had a wonderful new year and holiday season !
much love

just found your great daily photo blog and i like what i see here
great perspectives and great backdrops
i look forward to exploring the rest of your blog!
Greg – Thanks for the feedback
Hello Woody,
it´s not a good idea to make a daily photo blog. You can´t take a good picture every day, so you post a lot of pictures which are only taken to have something to post.
Best regards, Jack
I agree Jack that it’s not possible to take a great picture every day. Or even an interesting picture. Or even a pretty good picture. But the point of this blog is that if you do take a a picture every day a few may be brilliant, and more to the point, this is a diary.
I have not been on your website in a while and feel like I have missed so much! I am back to my daily routine now. Everything looks so beautiful. You are truly talented!
Thanks for the praise. I’m continually trying to improve it. The move from WordPress 2.watever to 3.0 was difficult but in the end worthwhile.
