NEW YORK NEW YORK – Out a window in our offices with my new Leica S and 35mm lens. It produces very deep files that hold up under intense editorial abuse, in this case extensively lightening the foreground and darkening the sky.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – We had a moment of brilliant light just outside of the building that my office is located in. One of the lessons that I learned on a four month photographic excursion in Brazil a decade ago was whenever good light arrives stop and shoot whatever is at hand. Anyway, the following are taken with my Leica Monochrom and am 18mm Super Elmar lens.

NEW YORK NEW YORK – I spent most of the day in the office, so I spent a bit of time lurking around the halls with my Leica M8.2 and an IR filter, looking for things to photograph. I caught this in the elevator lobby on my floor. Shot with a 35mm pre-aspheric Summicron v. 4, known as the “Bokeh king” for creamy quality of the out of focus portions of the images it creates. If you think I’m kidding on the Bokeh king thing try Googling it and see what you get. This lens is also an outstanding lens for infrared. Here’s the image:

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – I spent most of the day in the office. Fortunately in the late afternoon there was a moment when the light was wonderful, so I caught this image looking south from 919 Third Avenue with my Leica M9 and 35mm Summilux II lens. It’s two frames stitched.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – 919 Third Avenue, where my office is located. Got this walking to the office this morning in brilliant, encompassing late fail light. For the week of November 14 through 21 I’m using a single camera and lens: a Leica M9 with a 35mm Summicron Asph. This is a wonderfully flexible combination. When I need wider I shoot to stitch multiple frames together. I rarely need longer. 919 Third Avenue is a Skidmore Owings & Merrill building completed in 1970. It closely resembles an earlier Mies van der Rohe design.
