NEW YORK NEW YORK – Our firm’s partners meet for lunch every Tuesday. I wouldn’t ordinarily photograph at one of these but this was a special occasion: it was the last lunch at which Rick Evans served as presiding partner, a role that he is retiring from after a record-setting 13 years of service. I sat across the table from my retired partner Andy Hartzell, who doesn’t make many of these because the conflict with the weekly “French table” at the Yale Club, which actually includes a French tutor. Anyway here’s Andy caught with my Leica M9 and a 50mm Summilux lens.

  1. I was looking at photographs in this blog for a while because I like earthiness and simplicity in them; a life as it is. I am not sure how your blog ended up in my reading list but somehow I thought you are photographer by profession. This photograph made me search for a bio. Found it and it was a treat to read. Thank you.

    1. Oleg – I could have been a professional but my photographer friends have consistently told me “don’t give up your day job”, which is a law practice.

I appreciate “earthy” – I try very hard to resist the temptation to over process mundane photos to try to achieve greatness – of course this never works. I see a lot of images on the web that a failed in this respect.

      Thanks for your comments.
